Email clients help you to download your emails from webmail to your computer. Outlook is the email client from Microsoft and is one of the favorite email clients of many. In this article, we will go through the different steps involved in configuring your webmail with Outlook 2007.

Before you start to configure your Outlook email account, it is important that you are aware of all the Outlook setting features. Check with your email service provider to find out the different settings like incoming and outgoing mail servers and ports.

Steps involved

  • Run Outlook program on your computer and click Tools.
  • Now select Account Settings.
  • Under the E-mail tab, find the option New to add your email account.
  • Follow the prompts and fill in the fields to configure your email account.
  • Click Test Account settings to find out if you have successfully configured the account. If you are successful, you will receive a test email from Outlook.

Keep in mind that Outlook allows you to set up multiple email accounts. Follow the same procedure as above to configure other email accounts. Keep in mind that you should make one of the accounts in Outlook as your default email account. For this, select the email account that you prefer to make your default account and click on ‘Set As Default’.

When you try to create a new mail, the email will be automatically send from your default account. However, you will find the option to select an alternate account if you have multiple accounts configured. Also, if you have multiple email accounts configured in Outlook, which you no longer use, then delete those accounts by selecting the Remove option.

However, while you remove an unwanted email account, make sure to select the correct one, so that you do not accidently delete the account that you use.

Now, what if one of your email accounts in Outlook does not work. The first option is to check the Outlook setting. Double-check the settings like incoming and outgoing servers, your email passwords etc. A small change in any of these settings can give you an error in Outlook. However, if your email account is corrupted, the only option available for you to fix the issue is to go for a repair.

If even the repair option does not work and is unable to fix the issue with your email account, then go for a reinstallation process.
