How to configure the Outlook settings to transfer the Outlook 2003 PST file

Tweaking certain Outlook settings can be dangerous! You have to be very careful while dealing with different settings in Outlook, especially those that involve a ‘PST’ file. As you all know, the Outlook 2003 application was designed exclusively for managing email accounts. As such, every version of Outlook have a feature to export data and settings to a ‘PST’ file. You can export different types of data such as calendar, emails, notes etc.

After exporting these items to PST file, you can transfer these files from your computer to a different one. After importing the file to a new computer, you can restore all items in the Outlook 2003 version.

Well folks! Let’s get started. Plug the wires in to a socket and switch on your computer. Locate the “Start” menu from the desktop and click on it. This will open a new menu with lots of options.

From the new menu, select the “Programs” option. This will lead you in to another list from which you must select the “Microsoft Outlook 2003” link. This will display the main program window.

Select the “File” menu from the top portion. From the drop down list, locate the option labeled “Export”.

To advance to the next step in configuring the Outlook settings, select a location to save the PST file. Now plug an external storage device to your computer. From the “Auto Play” menu, select the “Open Folder” option. This will open the main window of the storage device.

Now copy the PST file where you saved the data to the external storage device. Then, click on the “Safely Remove Hardware” option from the taskbar, this will disconnect the device from your computer.

Now plug this external storage device to the computer where you want to store the PST file. From the “Auto Play” window select the “Open Folder” option. Now copy the PST file to a location you prefer.

Navigate to the “Start” menu and click the “Programs” option. Now launch the Outlook program by clicking on the link. Select the file option and click on the option labeled “Import”. Simply select the PST file.
